Kerchief Paintings at Super Crawl

Kerchief No 2 - Randell Neudorf - 2013 - web sizeI’m very excited to be exhibiting some new paintings during Super Crawl weekend at the Makers’ Market.

These new paintings consist of kerchiefs found at used stores, stretched and and collaged over wood panels. I can’t help wondering who might of worn this piece of fabric before I stumbled upon it? What happy and sad memories did this kerchief bear witness too? Was it worn as a fashion statement or was it just a utilitarian way to keep ones ears warm and hair in place.

It is this sense of history that makes painting on a used material much more dynamic than a stark white canvas. You can feel the memory just out of reach as it sparks the imagination of the viewer, drawing on our own memories and notions of nostalgia to create a story.

Ivor Wynne T-Shirts at Art Crawl

Ivor Wynne T-Shirts on sale tonight at Art Crawl (Fri Aug 9th, 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm).
Available at the Makers’ Market (outside in front of Christs’ Church Cathedral on James Street North in Hamilton). Shirts are $20 and come in Men’s (S, M, L, XL) and Women’s (S, M, L) sizes.

I created this shirt in collaboration with Photographer Jennifer Kellner. We wanted to capture the history of this iconic stadium for everyone who has fond memories of the many football games, concerts, and community events that have happened in this neighbourhood stadium.

I personally have lots of found memories of taking my kids to Tiger Cat games. We live within walking distance from the stadium and loved the energy in the neighbourhood on game day.

For some thoughts on the new stadium check out my post on The Commons Blog.

Just getting started

Just getting started with a website for my art, but I will be getting everything going in the very near future.  This site will eventually serve to:

  • Archive my body of visual work.
  • Sell paintings and prints.
  • showcase work in progress.
  • Keep the public informed of upcoming shows and exhibits.
